Curriculum Vitae

I joined the Sachse lab in September 2019 where I am currently working on autophagy adaptor proteins using cryoelectron microscopy. I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in molecular dynamics simulations with Jürgen Schlitter in Bochum (2010), followed by a Master’s degree with Carsten Kötting on time-resolved infrared spectroscopy of heterotrimeric G-proteins (2012). I obtained my PhD in 2017 with Carsten Kötting at Ruhr-University in Bochum by integrating theoretical and experimental approaches to investigate the GTP hydrolysis reaction in small and heterotrimeric GTPases. My PhD thesis was awarded the grade Summa Cum Laude and the Ruth-Massenberg prize for best dissertation in natural sciences. After my PhD I worked together with Klaus Gerwert on molecular mechanisms in Alzheimer’s disease as a postdoc from 2017 to 2018 and went abroad to Sheffield (UK) to work with Julien Bergeron on bacterial multiresistance using cryoelectron microscopy until September 2019.
